The senseless murder of the Baptist pastor in Illinois Sunday proves only one thing; the campaign to vilify and demonize Christians continues unabated.

In June of 2007, I wrote an article titled; So, its a broken fish. The article was about the growing intolerance for Christians in America. It also highlighted the growing number of murders, tortures, imprisonments and beatings of Christians worldwide.

The article also talked about the wife of a Christian pastor who had just received a sentence of 60 days in jail for murdering him in cold blood. The article pointed out with factual evidence that there was a growing animosity and prejudice against Christians in the U.S. and worldwide.

After posting the article, I did a search of the web to find current anti-Christian stories. Surprisingly, I found most on many of the major gay web sites. Not only did the stories and postings express a high level of hatred towards Christians, but the commenter’s who read and commented on the stories expressed an anger and almost sociopathic hatred for all Christians.

In an effort to show the readers and authors of these other web sites a balanced point of view, I posted a link back to my June 2007 article. I was not prepared for the vile comments, seething hatred and personal attacks I was about to experience.

Do as we say, not as we do

It’s funny about the gay community; the level of hypocrisy that is allowed to exist. After all, this is a subgroup within American society who has instructed the rest of us about the need for tolerance and acceptance. Their universal hatred of Christians seems to fly in the face of their own mantra.

More recently, the debate in California over Proposition 8 touched off a national firestorm that sought to further demonize Christians and alienate Christians from the rest of society. A massive propaganda campaign that emanated from the gay community and reinforced by the news media, was found in headlines everywhere.

Nobody outside the church ever took a minute to understand the true message from within the church. The church’s position, the position of Christians, has always been that marriage is a sacred institution, that it is the foundation of the nuclear family and basis for producing the next generation. The position has never been an anti-gay agenda. Every human was created by God, and no real Christian ever loses sight of this.

But what did we hear from the gay community and news organizations everywhere; Christians are anti-gay, intolerant and hate mongers.

The senseless shooting in Maryville, Illinois

The murder of the pastor in Illinois is evidence that the intolerance is on the side of the anti-Christians, not the Christians. It wasn’t that long ago, in December of 2007, that we saw a shooter walk into a Christian organization in Colorado and begin shooting. News accounts said that the shooter ‘hated Christians.’

We saw this with the murder of Rami Khader, the owner of a Christian bookstore in Gaza. We witnessed it with the burning of 10 Baptist churches in Alabama in 2006 and we saw it also at the schoolhouse in the Amish community.

Everything we know about Pastor Fred Winters of the First Baptist Church of Maryville was that he was a good guy. I watched a video of him (see below) and he seemed like a soft spoken, likeable and approachable person.

He had a wife and two young daughters. Why someone’s hatred for Christians should result in the death of this good person is beyond the scope of most thinking people to imagine. The bottom line is that there is a wife and two young girls who will suffer years of sadness because of the act of one person motivated by a growing movement in this country.

A misinformed population

Some news agencies are already trying to pin the assailants’ actions on Lyme disease, which has not been medically proven to lead its sufferers to murder. Others report that the motive is ‘unknown.’ None have delved into the communications and forums and web articles of the population of Americans who loathe Christians. There, one finds enough propaganda for a legion of future murderers.

About half of all teenagers in America today characterize themselves as Atheist, Agnostic or Wiccan. They have taken a drastic departure from the ‘non-church goers’ of the past and publically proclaimed their belief that there is no God.

Unlike the people who did not attend church when I was young, these modern non-Christians do not take a benign attitude towards Christians. On the contrary, they have a visceral hatred and loathing for Christians. They see Christians as the enemy based on a litany of false beliefs and teachings. They have no real understanding of the basic tenants of the Christian religion, but harbor a deep animosity based on misinformation.

Hate on one side; love on the other

Much of this misinformation is dispensed by the gay community. Many in the leadership and at the grassroots level have disseminated false and misleading information about Christians. As noted earlier, the accuse Christians of being intolerant and hate mongers.

On the web site of the church in Maryville, they ask that you pray for the assailant and his family. I can’t think of any other group in America who would ask for prayers for the person who just murdered someone they love so much. This is the essence of the Christian religion; to strive to be like Christ.

When my own pastor preaches on Sunday morning, he always distinguishes between the sin and the sinner. The sinner is a child of God, while the sin is something that does not please God. There is a big difference. Because of this approach, true Christians do not hate members of the gay community. They just can’t endorse their lifestyle choice. Is this justification for a swelling hatred of Christians? It is a one-way hatred, if that’s the case.

Taking an eraser to our Christian heritage

Led by the ACLU, the strong connection between our country’s founders and founding documents and Christianity, is being displaced with revisionist history. The true importance of Christianity to America, going back to the Mayflower, has been usurped by a pop culture version created by Christian-haters in academia, Hollywood, agenda-driven organizations and book authors.

This amalgamation of Christian-haters repeats terms like ‘separation of church and state,’ ‘the Crusades,’ ‘anti-gay’ and ‘intolerance’ to brainwash legions of young people who never receive any balanced information. They are indoctrinated into this culture of anti-Christian hate because they are surrounded by its purveyors.

In the end, we are left with incidents like the one in Maryville, Illinois. Senseless acts of murder and violence with origins in a subculture that spews hatred based on misinformation. While Christians receive no additional protections under U.S. law; they should. The incident in Maryville is not isolated and will only spur on others with a sociopathic hatred of people who practice the Christian faith.

The true history of Christianity in this country and others is the same. Christians collect food for poor people, collect gifts for poor children to provide them with a happy Christmas, build schools and homes and hospitals for poor people and poor populations, provide a safe-haven for those that are victims of domestic violence and offer a shoulder to cry on when people face the death of a loved one. These are things that Christians do every day.

Below is a short video of Pastor Fred Winters. This is not the face of hatred, but someone who clearly cared about other people.

Investigators of the senseless shooting of Christians in Colorado allege that the shooter was one Matthew Murray. My contention, in my previous posting, was that the shooter would be discovered to be a Christian-hater, a product of the far-left.

From a story on the FoxNews website:

The law enforcement official said Murray was believed to be the gunman in both attacks. Murray did not appear to have a criminal history but “hated Christians,” the official said. The official did not know Murray’s religion, if any.

Hatred of Christians is a growing movement among America’s young people. It has much in common with the fanatical Islamo-fascists who are brain-washed to kill Christians. Both groups base their beliefs on false premises and a deranged mentality that has at it’s core the elimination of all people of Christian faith.

The movement is creating an army of serial killers in our midst who will likely repeat the same senseless violence.

Once again, Christians are the target of anti-Christian lunatics. Two shootings today in Colorado further support my contention that this is a trend brought on my the far-left.

Two of those killed this morning and two seriously injured were with the organization Youth With A Mission. (YWAM). One lone gunman entered their Arvada, Colorado facility and opened fire.

From YWAM’s own website, a brief description of what they do:

YWAM is hugely varied in its approach, operating such ministries as drop-in centers for street children in South America; hospice care for AIDs victims in Africa; literacy and job creation programs throughout Asia; and is well known for its quick response and long-term commitment to global disasters, such as the 2006 tsunami.

Why kill those who are most needed? Why kill those who dedicate their lives to helping others? The far-left talks about their belief in helping those less fortunate. It is part of their political agenda. In reality, all they do is talk. The people at YWAM really traveled the world over helping those most in need of help.

Those programmed by the far-left to hate Christians are now coming out of the woodwork to spread their message of hatred and intolerance. We are now seeing increasing numbers of these senseless shootings with Christians as the targets.

Later today, in Colorado Springs, a gunman entered the New Life Church and shot three people, killing one and seriously injuring two others. A security guard, on high alert from the incident earlier in the day, shot and killed the shooter. The shooter was wearing a black trench coat, a common garment worn by those disaffected youth influenced by the rhetoric on the far left.

Christians nationwide face increasing discrimination and hostility, just as they do in many parts of the world. The tolerance for religious affiliation, that is a hallmark of our society, is quickly fading as those hostile to Christians spread their message. That message is finding a willing audience in young people, with 50% of those 14-19 identifying themselves as atheist or agnostic. These same people, who express their tolerance for homosexuals, express a deep intolerance and hatred for Christians. Their hypocrisy is a sign of the social engineering experiment that they have been a part of.

In the public schools, the message to young people reflects a message they hear from celebrities, musicians and left wing politicians. The message makes all kinds of claims against the ‘religious right.’ These claims are without merit and can not be substantiated, but there is no balance in the public schools or in youth culture to offset the misinformation, so more Christians die needlessly. America needs to wake up.

Christians in the U.S. and abroad are the target of those determined to remove Christianity from the face of the earth. Numerous events in recent years across the U.S. bears this fact out. We have just seen it happen again in a country with an Islamic majority.

Rami Khader Ayyad, the owner of a Christian bookstore, was murdered in the Gaza strip. The ruling party in Palestine is determined to snuff out the last of the Christian minority in the country. Hamas also vandalized two Catholic buildings nearby in a past raid.

Mr. Ayyad was murdered execution style with a bullet to the head and had been stabbed several times. Islam claims to be a religion of peace, but has no tolerance for Christians or Jews. Christians continue to die the world over for their faith. The murderers are most often Muslim.

In the U.S., the attitude towards Christians by fringe elements is much the same. There is little tolerance for those who practice the Christian faith. The problem will only get worse as a growing number of young people begin to view Christians as Hamas does. Extermination, not acceptance is their only form of diplomacy.

Would you be surprised if I told you that Jerry Falwell’s death will have been met with happiness and celebration amongst scores of Christians? If you are an Evangelical Christian, you will understand what I am talking about and if you’re not, it may come as a surprise.

While many Evangelical Christians will miss the Rev. Falwell, they will also celebrate his death as a time to ‘go home.’ Your reaction may be; ‘what is he talking about?’ Christians believe that our life on earth is temporary just as our earthly body is temporary. People generally last for 70 or 80 or 90 years and then their physical body just runs out of steam. Christians believe that those who are ‘born-again’ have a spiritual body that lives on through eternity.

Jerry Falwell was one of those born-again types who had a more exciting life to look forward too. To get to that spiritual life, the Rev. Falwell had to expire; he did.

His family and friends will miss him dearly, but at the same time, rejoice in knowing that he is in ‘paradise.’ If you are still scratching your head and wondering out loud just what I’m talking about, you’re not alone. Many millions across America and across the world don’t understand what motivates Evangelical Christians to wake up with a smile every day. And if they don’t have a smile every morning, they at least have a smile on their death bed.

Jerry Falwell was demonized by the press. He was castigated and pigeon-holed and mischaracterized as an intolerant bigot. The extreme left spoke his name only with condemnation and repulsion. Their conception of him was that he represented everything that they hate and he was a thorn in their side. In reality, he was just a small town preacher.

You have to understand that Jerry Falwell just believed what every other evangelical preacher believed. He knew that America’s fabric is held together by the family; one dad, one mom and one to several children. The nuclear family is essential to America and Jerry Falwell wanted to do what he could to secure America’s future by promoting that simple fact.

While Jerry Falwell was characterized as intolerant by the left and the main-stream media, it was intolerance towards his efforts to keep safe the family and the sanctity of life that earned him many unfair monikers. For Reverend Falwell’s mission was not one of hate or intolerance or bigotry, but a belief in the family and the value of human life.

He left the Moral Majority, as its leader, 20 years ago. Twenty years is a long time folks. His focus after leaving was no longer political. His focus became his church and his university. The press continued to go to great lengths to cast him in an unfavorable light even to his death. Newspaper articles about him on the day he died, in left-wing publications, showed no class or integrity in defaming his name. No forethought was given to his family or followers. The visceral hatred on the left knows no bounds or decency.

To those who knew him personally, he was a friendly mentor and always personable. His parishioners and students crossed all racial and ethnic demarcations and represented a cross-section of America. They knew the Jerry Falwell that we will never know. For them, his faith and familiar smile was that of a small town preacher; nothing more and nothing less.

With all the Christian-bashing sanctioned in this country, it's interesting to see that a predominantly Muslim country has taken a stand for the 3% of the population that is Christian.

Pakistan has banned the movie, The DaVinci Code, because it is an affront and blasphemous to Christians. Although I would not endorse that kind of censorship in the U.S., the principle is whats important. The fact that the assertions in the movie are so egregious to Christians, and that respect for the religion is worth taking a stand for, is heartening. Although radical Islam would wipe out Christians everywhere, mainstream Islam shows respect, based on the notion that we all pray to one God, but that the messengers sent to earth were different.

Probably the most startling revelation I have had recently about the assault on Christians in America came by way of a great piece on the BrotherJuddBlog about the Pope's recent trip to Auschwitz and his speech while there.

The Pope talked about Nazi Germany's attempt to kill the Christian God and remake God in their image. The Pope's comments were directed at events that occurred in the '30's and '40's. (Read the BrotherJuddBlog posting here.)

This sounds all too familiar and all too frightening. Could part of Hitler's plan be revitalized in America today by a minority of extremists?

This blog is meant primarily to discuss political subjects and current events. Social events would come second, and religion falls under this category. Religion is a social phenomenon that is important to any society. The relationship between God and man is crucial to man's understanding of his existence, his meaning and moral precepts.

I have written recently, more frequently, about Christianity for two reasons. One is that it was the religion of those who founded this country and wrote our founding documents. Secondly, it is under attack. In my view, when Christianity is under attack, the United States is under attack.

Christianity has always been a positive force in America, and a safe haven for those who needed a source of comfort and stabilization. It has been the greatest source of funds, gifts and helping hands for the poor, abused woman, troubled children, prisoners, victims of crime and countless others. Christianity has been a source of good in the U.S., and does not deserve to be the target of extremists, 'progressive' Christian haters and those with an agenda to remove God from America.

I will write soon about the many Christian churches that have been burned to the ground by an arsonist(s) in Phoenix, Arizona and the ten Baptist churches burned down recently in Alabama. These are prime examples of the growing wave of anti-Christian bigotry that is running rampant in our country today. I have recently written about the hateful, senseless desecration of Christianity by the student newspaper at the University of Oregon. Another example of the Christian hater’s overt attempts at institutionalized bigotry.

Now the good work that Christian groups have done in prisons is under attack. One study, in 2002, found that faith-based prison programs decreased the rate of recidivism to 16%. 70% is the norm. It would seem that this does our society an enormous benefit, since this means there are fewer victims of crime and prisoners return to society with a foundation, and belief system, that they did not have previously. This end result should speak volumes, and if the prisoner becomes a Christian in the process, do we find an egregious downside? Apparently some do.

This past week, a judge in Iowa decided that one of the most successful prison ministries violated the first amendment. U.S. district judge, Robert Pratt, sided with an anti-Christian group called Americans United for Separation of Church and State. In recent years, the courtrooms, and those wearing the robe, have been both the rallying point and the vehicle for change for so many anti-Christian extremist groups. The group that brought the suit in the first place is based on a false premise, which should be understood by anyone familiar with the U.S. Constitution. The whole separation of church and state issue has been badly misconstrued and twisted in the mainstream media to the benefit of Christian-haters everywhere. They have turned freedom of religion into freedom from religion.

Sometimes the Christian-haters falsely represent themselves as Christians. The group, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, is headed by a lawyer who likes to pass himself off as a Christian, declaring that he was a minister with the United Church of Christ. To those outside the Christian community, this would seem to be someone on the 'inside' who understands Christ, and puts Christ first in everything he does. After all, if you come from a denomination with a name like the United Church of Christ, you must be a real Christian. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The United Church of Christ is a denomination mired in legalism and its own history. While most real Christ-centered Christian denominations focus on Christ as the basis of our religion and God in the flesh, the United Church of Christ is more concerned with the many social themes and historical research subjects that are at its core. Efforts to bring people to an awareness of Christ and eternal life in Heaven are nowhere to be found in their activities or foundation. Any wonder that a Christian-hating, liberal extremist attorney would identify himself with this very Christian-sounding church?

The same organization boasts of having a number of staffers who are of many Christian denominations, Jews and Muslims. The reality is that many who call themselves Christians are members of churches like the Unity church or the United Church of Christ. Although the first six letters in 'Christian' is what the Christian religion is really all about, you won't find Christ mentioned once on the home page of the Unity church. There is a good reason for that. Christ said that we should not spend our lives trying to collect material things, and worship those things, because they will all rust away or be eaten by moths eventually, and we would not be able to take them to Heaven.

The Unity church ignores Christ's own words and advocates all the getting of material things and money that you possibly can………….not to mention that you should give plenty of it to them in the form of donations. The United Church of Christ might consider renaming their denomination. They are so caught up in the social causes of the extreme left, that they ignore the importance of teaching members how to get to Heaven. They seek to block the Marriage Protection amendment to the Constitution and produce people like the head of the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State organization who seeks to ban the word God from America.

Real Christians believe that the core of the religion is one's relationship with Christ. Christianity is the only religion on earth where God came to stand alongside man. Real Christians believe that the Bible is the living word of God, and that it is infallible. If you are not a real Christian, then these things are foreign to you.

As strange as it may sound to those reading these words now, who are not born-again believers, Christians really believe there is a devil. Christians believe that the devil has dominion over the earth, and he can influence people, even Christians. When one asks what motivates organizations like Americans United for Separation of Church and State to go after Christianity with such tenacity and loathing, one is reminded of the successes the devil can claim. Why else would anyone create an organization whose purpose is to destroy the one institution that has helped so many people when they needed help most?

The prison program that was the target of the anti-Christian lawsuit was the non-profit Prison Fellowship program originally founded by Chuck Colson, who went to prison himself in 1975 for crimes related to the Watergate scandal. It is the largest prison ministry in the world. The good the organization has done for prisoners and their families is immense.

The Angeltree program alone, part of Prison Fellowship, helps with the purchase of Christmas gifts for children who have a parent in prison. Every year, thousands of children realize a happy Christmas because of the program. This is the kind of good that Americans United for the Separation of Church and State are attempting to snuff out. Their hatred of real Christians, in unison with groups like the ACLU, is a front for extremists who use the court system to destroy all that is good in
America.

The AUSCS website describes real Christians as 'extreme and intolerant' with a 'radical agenda.' Seems to me that they are describing their own actions, and those of their supporters. They boast of the cooperation they have had from the main stream media. Christian-bashers helping Christian-haters; what a novel idea.

With so many other 'progressive' ideas picking away at the fabric that is America, is it any wonder that we are witness to so many new problems in our country? And those problems that have been around are flourishing. Those left-wing groups bent on the destruction of Christianity and Christ-centered Christians will not stop until all that is at the core and foundation of America is removed and gone. Any wonder that the head of the Americans United for Separation of Church and State organization was for seven years the legislative counsel for the Washington office of the American Civil Liberties Union?

It all adds up………….pseudo-Christian organizations, anti-Christian organizations founded as communist front groups, anti-Christian student organizations, pro-alternative lifestyle groups immersed in the progressive, popular culture movement and Islamist extremists groups all working together with one goal………..the end of the Christian faith. Does it help us or hinder us as a nation to remove the people and organizations most likely to help other Americans?

One of the organizations I belong to is called the American Family Association. It is an organization that has been around since the late seventies, and as its focus, is trying to fight for family values. This is not an easy agenda to achieve in light of American popular culture which seeks to move away from family values and towards self gratification, the Hollywood vision of America and acceptance of all alternative lifesyles. Despite the overwhelming odds, the AFA continues to bring to light the assault on family values by the judicial system, TV and movies and liberal politicians.

A recent e-mail notice from the AFA spoke of the degrading, disgusting afront to Christians everywhere by the student newspaper 'Insurgent' at the University of Oregon. It is interesting that the newspaper there is called the Insurgent since media around the world daily refer to the terrorists in Iraq as insurgents. We know them by their real world name; terrorists. For those Americans of deep faith, the students who write for, and run the Insurgent would seem to pride themselves as domestic terrorists, as long as the victims are Christians. The student editor of the Insurgent as much as said so.

What did the newspaper do to offend Christians? They did something purposely vile. As I instructionally stated in a previous posting, Christians don't only see Jesus as the Son of God, but as God in the flesh as well. If you are not a real Christian, it is hard to explain the importance of Jesus to Christians or the roll He plays in our day to day lives. Suffice to say, there is nothing, or no one more important. I can not even draw a comparison for non-Christians, because none exists.

Having stated the place Christ holds in the lives of Christian people, imagine if you will the deep pain Christians feel when they see the University of Oregon student newspaper's depiction of a naked Jesus kissing another naked man, both aroused. If you find this humorous, you are not a Christian. You have just been through a true litmus test.

If you are sickened that anyone would be willing to degrade your beliefs so crudely, with such a lack of conscience or compassion and with such ignorance for the prejudice they practice, then you are a Christian, or at least a Christian sympathizer.

It did not stop there though. They also showed a naked Christ, on the cross with an erection. The same newspaper would never create the same depiction with the late Martin Luther King, reasoned the AFA e-mail, and I would add, they would never do the same with Mohammed. While making certain not to offend African Americans, Muslims and those who live alternative lifestyles, the Insurgent is more than happy to insult Christians worldwide to an extent that is perverse and cruel.

The AFA notice went on to urge members to write the Oregon Governor, state officials and the University's president. After all, there should be no place in America for anti-Christian bigotry………….bigotry is bigotry, no matter who the victim is. On principle, anyone opposed to bigotry should be opposed to all bigotry.

A little research led me on a path of discovery and disappointment. The e-mails to the University's president, Dave Frohnmayer, would fall on deaf ears. To read some of Mr. Frohnmayer's speechs, one quickly realizes the environment that would nurture the likes of those who created the sickening depictions of Christ. Mr. Frohnmayer is, in every way, the type of far left wing person who loathes Christians, loathes conservatives and loathes those advocating family values.

Few would argue that Harvard and UC Berkeley are two of the most liberal institutions of higher learning in the land, and Mr. Frohnmayer is a graduate of both. His indoctrination into the left-wing mindset would have begun during his undergrad years at Harvard and then would have been reinforced during his law degree studies at the most liberal of American institutions; Berkeley. Most alum at these two liberal thinktanks look down their noses at Christians with suspicion and disdain, as if they are delusional lemmings set on a path that circumvents intellectual thought. Mr. Frohnmayer's brother had served as chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts.

While Mr. Frohnmayer has an impressive resume' including a stint as the Oregon Attorney General, with two re-elections and a former member of the state's house of representatives, he has still found academia and institutionalized bigotry more to his liking.

Sometimes, it is hard to understand the need of Christian-haters to resort to such ugliness as Mr. Frohnmayer and the students who staff the Insurgent have gleefully done. For most in the insulated world of academia, whether students or faculty and administration, there is a sense that the world rotates around their every thought. They live in a world of theory, studies, awards and publications and self aggrandizement. Their lives consist of gathering more memorized facts, quoting more of their counterparts and rationalizing their beliefs with experiments performed by social engineers and psychology professors.

Those, who are left wing intellectuals believe that Christians are people who have been driven to such because of personal tragedy, personal failure or addiction recovery. While there are many Christians who look back on these turning points, there are many more who came to Christ out of a revelation of truth. They were not forced to turn to God in despair, but instead turned to God to rejoice. Life was good before, and then got better.

For liberals, like Mr. Frohnmayer, who has known great personal pain, a loving God is someone they turn away from instead of towards. When they felt God let them down, it reinforced the mind numbing that went on years before. Hating Christians is justified to liberals and so disgusting depictions of Christ are justified.

Leftwing intellectuals remind me of a snowball rolling down a snowy hill. As the snowball finds its way down the side of the hill, it gathers more snow. At the bottom, it is a larger snowball. It has done nothing else but gather more snow, but it has now added to its size. If you chip away at the larger snowball, you will find only more snow at it's core.

In a speech Mr. Frohnmayer gave in 2004 entitled 'Situational Ethics, Social Deception, and Lessons of Machiavelli', he spoke of several sources of ethics, giving brief mention to "spiritual commands or principles of a religious belief," and "rabbinical tradition and the gospels." Most of the speech covered the studies and conclusions of Zimbardo, Milgram and Princeton neuroscientist, Joshua Greene. Ethics, or the lack thereof, in man can be summed up in the studies of psychologists and academics. This is the view of the extreme left. Faith is in whatever empirical evidence that results from studies.

To understand the shock, hurt, pain and revulsion that the University of Oregon, the Insurgent student newspaper and Mr. Frohnmayer have caused Christians, is to understand this simple fact. Christians believe that God takes three forms; the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Christians believe that Jesus Christ was God, the Son, in the flesh. God who walked among us as a human. The being who paid the ransom for man's sin. Christians think of God as a loving father.

I would ask the staff of the University of Oregon Insurgent newspaper and University president Frohnmayer to remove Christ in those depictions they published, and replace him with a depiction of their own father. This may help them understand how Christians feel.

Discrimination is something we shun in this country……………….isn't it? We don't criticize people based on their skin color, their nationality or their abilities. It's considered downright un-American, isn't it? It's politically incorrect, and those who engage in discrimination are held up as bigots, intolerant or worse. We don't stand for it as a society and the discriminators are shouted down.

Well, not always. There is one exception to intolerance of discrimination in America today. It's ugly, but it somehow gets a pass.

When I was young, there were people who went to church and those who didn't. The people who avoided church were generally ambivalent to those who did. Their attitude towards church goers was benign, and they simply had no interest in the church or anything that was associated with being Christian.

As I got older, I realized that being Christian was more than going to church. Church was very important, but inviting Christ into one's heart and living by His example was at the heart of the Christian religion. Treating all people with dignity, helping those less fortunate, reaching out a hand to those who feel lost, visiting those who are hospitalized or elderly, supporting charitable causes, giving people meaning to their lives and hope for their futures, this is Christianity. It would seem that it would be hard to find something wrong in all this; it would seem that there would be nothing to slight, nothing to criticize and no reason to hate people who are at the core of the country.

From the benign attitude towards Christianity in the '60's, fast forward to America in 2006. While those who would practice discrimination are the bane of society, not so for those who would desecrate, humiliate and wipe their shoes off on the Christian faith and Christians. In a recent southpark episode, the animated cable series showed in graphic detail how much those in the popular culture loath Christians. While the show went to great lengths not to offend Muslims, it took no such pity on Christians. To the contrary, they were willing to stoop to such moral depravity in insulting the Christian faith, which for Christians went way beyond offensive.

The show was willing to depict a scene where Christ defecates on the President of the United States. To even write the previous sentence is difficult and uncomfortable. Christians believe that Christ was God in the flesh, and to depict our Creator with such disregard for what is treasured and sacred to so many millions of Americans is nothing less than evil.

Those who live their lives worshipping popular culture and a gutter culture find nothing wrong with practicing the most vile discrimination against Christians. The indifferent attitude of the past has been transformed into a seething hatred, a willful disrespect and a disgusting disregard for what is at the very core of the lives of the faithful. Those who practice modern day Christian bashing relish the depths they are allowed to go with out recourse or concern. They can practice wholesale discrimination against those they loath, verbalize their message of hatred and promote an anti-Christian media and subculture with reckless abandon.

The southpark episode reminds us that there is no level that is low enough in demeaning Christianity. While they fear Muslim retaliation, they count on the 'turn the other cheek' belief in Christians and see it as pure weakness. This gives them a Carte Blanch green light to continue molesting the victim. Christians need to speak with one voice without delay, and stop the growing anti-Christian movement in its tracks. Discrimination is always wrong, always.
