Jumping to the Wrong Conclusion

“People who knew Loughner described him as a Pot-smoking loner.” One friend interviewed by local news said “he hung around with anti-social kids, always wore black and spent most of his time with kids with lots of piercings.”

Another local Democrat politician in Tucson, during an interview today, suggested that the shooter must be a Tea Party person. Now we know that the true shooter was the polar opposite of a Tea Party participant and indeed a lifestyle much more in line with an anarchist or progressive. Like most liberals, the Tucson politician, Lopez, jumped to erroneous, biased statements that were far off base and irresponsible.

Although they are the constant targets of a liberal press, those with the Tea Party movement have proven to be one of the most peaceful, respectful groups in the country, contradicting the false, malicious labels and accusations that are slung their way. Today’s tragic events exposed one more example of that erroneous stereotyping.

Keep the victims of today’s tragic events in your prayers and thoughts.

Shooter of Representative Giffords NOT a Tea Party Type

U.S. Congresswoman, Gabby Giffords, who was shot today in Tucson, is a moderate Democrat with views that could be considered conservative on topics like the 2nd Amendment. There are already those on the left and far-left who are mentioning and accusing the Tea Party as being connected to the shooter. A quick look at the shooter’s Youtube page and MySpace page show this is anything but the truth.

The shooter can be seen burning the American flag. He rails against religion and lists the Communist Manifesto as one of his favorite books. These are both indications of a liberal worldview, not conservative. The kneejerk reaction of liberals in this case, like most times, is off base, premature and erroneous. There are often more members of the far-left who resent moderate Democrats. Conservatives respect moderate Democrats.

Most Tea Party folks are not the types especially interested in drug use, but the suspected shooter was arrested in 2007 for possession of drug paraphernalia. A second charge which is unknown, was brought against the suspected shooter in 2008.

Our prayers for the victims of this sad day and for Representative Giffords and her family.
