Will the next president matter if we’re all dead
There’s something that is not making the news that you should probably know about. As a matter of fact, it could kill all of us soon, making the presidential race a moot point.
The new Large Hadron Collider, which is underground and located near CERN France, will begin experiments in June to test a number of grand unified physics theories. Most of these theories have never been tested before and the results of colliding protons at speeds never achieved before will result in changes in matter only explained in theories in the standard model of particle physics.
Why should we care about the excitement of a bunch of physicists getting their wish to see if their theories stand up to muster? There is a very good reason. There are respected physicists around the world who believe that the experiments could go terribly awry. They believe that the use of the Hadron Super Collider could result in the creation of a ‘black hole’.
The scientists who run the Super Collider laboratory dismiss these concerns out of hand. They claim that a radiation, generated by the experiments called Hawking radiation would decay the black hole before it could grow and become a threat. The problem with their explanation is that Hawking radiation has never been observed before and is only a theory itself.
The physicists who are concerned about the dire consequences of the experiments have filed a lawsuit attempting to slow the start of the first experiments until further safety testing has been considered and vetted. They claim that if something is not done to verify the existence of the new type of radiation that an undetected black hole could envelope the earth and destroy us within minutes.
When I told my wife about this, she laughed. Yes, it sounds like science fiction. It even sounds absurd. After all, if something this dangerous was about to occur, wouldn’t we hear all about it on TV, in the newspaper and on the radio? That’s a very good question. An army of public relations pros have written volumes to dissuade the public’s fears. They are determined to go ahead with the risky experiments. Even Wikipedia takes the side of the PR people.
There are 7 thousand scientists signed on with the CERN Super Collider experiment. There is a much smaller number of scientists who are concerned about the never-before observed consequences of the experiment. It seems that the voice of the few is drowned out by the enthusiasm of the many.
If the June experiments go forward, the creation and the growth of the ‘black hole’ would go undetected until it was too late. Scientists don’t have instrumentation to detect such things.
The scientist who originally raised concerns about the potential disaster said that there is a 50/50 chance that the experiments will go as planned without incident. Obama or McCain……will it really matter?
A fool and his money are soon parted
Tonight, Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton in North Carolina by a wide margin and nearly beat her in Indiana. How can this be?
Exit polls show that Obama is getting most of the college educated and black vote. There is a disconnect here. One would surmise that thinking people would understand the enormity of the office of president and the consequences of electing someone not qualified to lead the world. After all, you need a pretty strong resume’ to even run for president.
Obama has a lot of questionable baggage. He has been associated with an indicted criminal in Chicago. He is friends with a convicted domestic terrorist, who has bombed government buildings. His friend and pastor of twenty years is an avowed racist and separatist. Obama showed no sense of accomplishment while serving in the legislature in Illinois and he has accomplished nothing while in the U.S. Senate. So why does he get so many votes?
The answer lies in the level of awareness of those voting for him. They have a very simplistic view of the world stage and the daily requirements of the office of president. They do not consider the vast implications of electing someone with no resume’ and no accomplishments to a position that effects every American. They don’t consider the shallowness of Obama’s message or his voting record. They just don’t know and they just don’t care.
I know a lady who is a friend of my wife’s who lost several thousand dollars from a swindler who sold her a phony investment. She complained regularly about the fact that she lives on a fixed income, but she lost much of her savings to this creep. A year after her loss, the same guy called her again, and again she invested several more thousands of dollars. This is the Obama voter; their eye on a phony payoff but oblivious to everything else.
Most of those voting for Sen. Obama don’t know about the study done of the voting records of all members of the Senate going back to 1927. Obama had the most liberal record of any Senator as it turned out. Many who are liberal will say that they don’t care about his voting record or that the voting record is in synch with their ideology. They don’t stop to understand that his voting record stands in stark contrast to his campaign pledge. He says he will represent all Americans, but his extremist record shows that he will represent only a fringe few.
Obama has made the theme of ‘change’ the hallmark of his campaign, but this theme is not new. What is he going to change? Will he change how things are done in Washington? Not likely; he needs the support of the house and senate to do that. Is Obama that naive that he doesn’t understand that he is giving people false hope? Does he think he will eliminate the poor and eradicate hunger? President Bush took most people living under the poverty level off the tax rolls and he did not run on a platform of change. Congress makes laws; the president only signs off on them.
What is happening throughout the United States is false hope and glib rhetoric. Barack Obama has found a way to fool people, even the educated ones. He has found a way to be like Teflon and let all the evidence of his extremism, bad judgment and questionable associates slide off him. This may work wonders on the campaign trail, but it has serious consequences as the decision maker in the White House.
Sometimes people are too smart for their own good. People who may have advanced degrees and successful friends are often caught up in their self-perceived brilliance and don’t take the time to think in-depth about important subjects. Sometimes they believe only what they want too. This may happen despite a lot of evidence that they are making a bad decision. The brain surgeon who can’t figure out how to put a bicycle together or the person who invests in a company with no record of growth.
There will be a lot of black folks, including a lot of very smart black folks, who will vote for Obama just because he is half black. The exit polls show this is the truth. They want to see the first black president no matter what. They join many elitist whites and liberals of all shades who are going to vote for Obama in the general election.
There exists in America today many millions of people who don’t understand that the president of the United States has his or her finger on the button that can launch a nuclear war, has to make decisions daily that will or won’t prevent another 9/11, meet with world leaders who have complex agendas, elect judges who need to rule based on the constitution and represent all of the people. This is only part of what the president does.
Just as that swindler took my wife’s friend for several thousand dollars, Barack Obama will approach the November elections having convinced a lot of people that he should be president. Without credentials, without experience and without a workable plan, Obama will end up the Democratic nominee for president. If no one wakes up and no one gets smart by then, we could end up with him as president. The thinking people, those who understand the big picture will be left with an uncertain future because of the rash decisions of those with a narrow perspective. By then, it will be too late.
Barack Obama will lean back in the Oval Office and smile as he thinks about how a fool and his money were just parted.
