Democrats have to grow up

Watching President Bush deliver his State of the Union address tonight reminded me of one sickening fact; Nancy Pelosi is a poster child for the radical left who hold sway over her party.  While President Bush provided a factual overview of the reality of our domestic state of affairs and foreign policy, Pelosi sat there looking like a third grader who hated the most popular kid in class.  Her purposeful disinterest and show of utter disrespect was so much more pandering to her extreme left constituents and handlers.

Watching the speech on Fox provided one other reminder that most Americans missed, and certainly something ignored by the Bush-hating left.  As the President exited the chambers after the speech, he made his way past members of both parties.

Numerous members, on both sides of the aisle, handed him copies of the speech to autograph for them or others.  The President signed every one.  More important was what the microphone caught when it was close enough. Without missing a beat, the President addressed every person he passed by name. He also asked how certain family members were doing.

This is the real George W. Bush.  Not the maniacal, war-loving, rich-emboldening, poverty-ignoring, minority loathing President that the mainstream media has created. The real George Bush, who friends have described as personable and genuine, was on display for anyone who was paying attention.  The sad fact is that few would have noticed that fact tonight. So expect more Bush-bashing in tomorrow’s papers.

As far as Nancy Pelosi and other elitists are concerned, they will never achieve the ‘real person’ characteristic that is an integral part of George Bush’s nature.

Instead, Pelosi can be confident that the media will hide the fact that the President’s policies have led to job growth for 52 straight months. Instead, in this election year, that fact will be replaced by a steady drumbeat declaring economic disaster on all fronts.

Do we really want one of Nancy Pelosi’s colleagues running the country?  Do we really want someone of that ilk, that demeanor and that self-absorbed making decisions that effect all Americans?

I was reminded tonight; as I watched speaker Pelosi’s actions, that the Democratic leadership has been reduced to the same level of pathetic self-delusion that so characterizes their extremist base.  The nation is ignoring the characteristics of a true leader, and we will be in trouble if that is the case in November.
