The Imus flap
There is only one reason that liberals are keeping the Imus story on the front pages. It’s called ‘working the system’. In the end, it will put more money in the coffers of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the African-American players on the Rutgers team and any number of leading ‘civil rights’ organizations.
Every day, in every city in America, teens and twenty-something’s are using the disparaging word; ho’s. It is part of the teen, twenty-something, rap vernacular and originated in the black community. ‘Nappy-headed’ was an expression that my black room-mates in college used all the time. They also used the ‘N’ word and when I quizzed them about its use, they stated that it meant ‘ignorant’ when used by other blacks. ‘Nappy-headed’ was just a humorous term in the context they used it in.
My guess is the woman on the Rutgers basketball team refer to each other as ‘ho’s’ all the time. It is a term used tongue-in-cheek even amongst friends. The artificial outrage that has emerged around this particular incident has only one goal; make Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and a host of other left-wingers a lot more money. It also serves the purpose of furthering the culture of ‘victimhood’ and all those who prosper from inventing their own ‘victim’ status.
I don’t listen to Imus. Most conservative, Christian types don’t. That goes for other shock-jocks like Stern. We just don’t find their sophomoric, filthy-mouthed humor funny. That said……….those who listen to them should not be surprised or offended by what they say. Their brand of humor and their style of delivering it is what brings them legions of listeners. Many of those jumping on the Imus-lynching bandwagon are the very type of people who love his kind of show. More left-wing hypocrisy.
Now that the rape charges against the Duke Lacrosse players have been dropped, we are reminded that this episode is just like the Tawana Brawley hoax. As you may remember, Tawana Brawley fabricated the same type of story alleging a rape by several white men. A security camera video later showed her ripping her own clothes and lying on the ground, without another soul in sight. What the Duke case and the Tawana Brawley case make clear is that some of the worst discrimination and racism in America is directed at whites. In both cases there were protests by ‘civil rights organizations’ as well as the black panthers. In both cases, Al Sharpton figured prominently, pointing an accusing finger at the innocent white victims. Now they want to hang Imus out to dry for uttering some words that originated in the black community.
Freedom of speech comes with many contingencies in a politically correct America. If you fall within certain classes and sub-groups, you have total freedom of speech, unimpeded by ridicule. If you fall into other sub-populations, you risk everything if you exercise your first amendment rights.
We need to boycott Proctor & Gamble, Staples, General Motors, GlaxoSmithKline and American Express for perpetuating this double standard. While these same companies do nothing to fund a movement against racism and sexism in rap music, they are quick to pull funding from an old white guy who used the same language as rap artists.
Don Imus needs to tell the world that in the context of his show, he had every right to make the remark that he made. Whether or not he is really a racist has yet to be proven, but his right to say what he wants is guaranteed under the constitution and until rap artists, black comedians, teenagers, college students and others stop using terms like ‘nappy-headed ho’ , the hypocrites need to get a grip.
Once again………it’s okay to bash Christians
All I can offer readers of this blog is constant, undeniable proof of the institutional discrimination that is practiced and endorsed in every state in this country. The latest example comes to us from Burling Township in New Jersey.
The school system decided to stage a mock terrorist drill which was coordinated with the local police and fire departments. They could have chosen to use Islamo-facists, who are, in reality, the real terrorists. Instead they decided that the terrorists in their drill were Christians. Yes, you heard me right, Christians.
In the scenario created for the drill, some Christian parents, incensed that their kids were not allowed to pray in school, storm the school and kill people. So once again, the people who help the poor, who help battered woman, who help those with dependencies and those incarcerated………..the very people least likely to be the county’s enemies are portrayed as such. This is pure bigotry on the part of those who organized the drill.
This scenario was largely the creation of the Townships Public Safety Director. Wonder if that person is a left-wing atheist? Whatever the case, it’s just more Christian bashing which is happening at an alarming rate nationwide with no one pointing out that bigotry is bigotry.
On a lighter note, the March economic report showed that 180,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate slid to 4.4 percent. That Bush guy must be doing something right……………you won’t find that mentioned in your local newspaper, but who wants to deal with facts?
