Anyone who has kids has probably read them The Gingerbread Man. It’s a short book with a horrific ending. It was after several readings of the book to our toddler son that I realized the parallel between the book and the liberal Democratic approach to Iraq and terrorism in general.
Allow me to recount for you the story of The Gingerbread Man. He is originally created by the farmer’s wife, baked in the oven along with some cake. When she opens the oven door, the Gingerbread Man makes a bad dash for the door, warning the farmer and his wife………”you will never catch me.”
The Ginger Bread Man runs from the farmhouse and passes a cow………the cow urges him to stop, but he answers, ” no, you will never catch me.” He then passes a horse, who makes the same request and gets the same reply from the Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man continues his run for freedom until he is stopped by a river. At the rivers edge sits a fox. The fox assures the Gingerbread Man that he has no interest in catching him, and further, he is willing to help him across the river.
Sit on my tail, the fox tells the confident Gingerbread Man, and they start across the river. Just as that moment the farmer, his wife, the cow and the horse arrive at the rivers bank to see what is happening. As they look out at the fox and the Gingerbread Man, the fox suggests to the Gingerbread Man that if he sits on the fox’s nose, he will see more. The Gingerbread Man happily complies.
In a split second, we hear the sound, ’snap, snap’ and the helpless Gingerbread Man has been eaten alive by the fox. The book concludes…………..’That was the end of the Gingerbread Man’.
The left and the Democratic leadership who obey their every whim believe they can sit down with the terrorists in Iraq and make peace. They believe that by sitting across the table from terrorists and caving to their demands, we can all shake hands and the violence will magically stop.
I can’t help but see an analogy here. If the Democrats are allowed to call the shots, and continue to cow tow to the extreme left, then won’t all of us end up much like the Gingerbread Man? As ‘08 approaches, the fox is smiling even now.
