Sister Leonella, an Italian nun working at a hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia was shot four times in the back by Islamic gunmen today. Sister Leonella had worked for 38 years in Nairobi and Mogadishu. She was a teacher and helped take care of children at the hospital.
Also today, two Christian churches were firebombed in the West Bank towns of Tulkarem and Tubas. This followed the firebombing and shooting attacks of five other Christian churches there on Saturday. As with the murder of Sister Leonella in Somalia, the firebombers were Islamic. Islam, by the way, is often referred to as the ‘religion of peace.’ Interesting how most random acts of violence in the world today are the result of Islamic terrorism.
Both the nuns murder and the attacks on the Christian churches is believed to be revenge for comments Pope Benedict made Tuesday in Germany in a speech before university professors. During the speech, Pope Benedict quoted a book that describes a conversation that occurred in the 14th century between a Byzantine Christian emperor and a Persian man. The emperor was talking about the Muslim jihad (holy war) and mentions that Muhammad said to spread the faith by the sword.
This past February, I wrote:
In Africa on Saturday, Muslims burned down 15 Christian churches and killed at least 15 Christian people using violent, torturous methods. The churches were in Maiduguri, Nigeria. It was a three hour rampage by thousands of local Muslims. On Sunday, Muslims in Pakistan burned down a Christian church. Between 40 and 50 people have been slain in the past three weeks by Muslims incensed by a comic shown in a local newspaper in Denmark. Freedom of expression does not exist for Christians in Denmark, and throughout Europe, just as it does not exist in the United States. If you are a Christian or Jew in a Muslim country, and you think you can express your views freely, think again. It may be your demise
As in February, Muslims are murdering Christians, as well as Jews, in Africa and in Middle East countries. Their taste for blood is unmatched in the world today. In Iraq alone, also just today, six bombs planted in the city of Kirkuk by Islamic extremists killed 24 people and injured more than eighty others. Nearly all of those casualties were Arab civilians. Fifteen other Iraqi civilians were found in the past days, tortured and shot by Islamic terrorists. All in the name of the ‘religion of peace.’
Since the Pope’s speech Tuesday, the Pope has made it clear that he does not agree with the words of the 14th Century Byzantine emperor, and that it is not his own opinion. This has not stopped the world-wide rioting and mayhem by Muslims in the street.
Perhaps the Pope spoke the truth. Maybe we are in a war currently. Maybe it is Islam’s desire to spread their religion throughout every country in the world, without dissenters who choose to practice other faiths. Just maybe we are witnessing a growing trend that will not end until all are converted to Islam. And those who resist……………..are all murdered.
